I have to admit that there are just too many distractions in my life. No 1 distraction is this little gadget that I am using to write in this blog. I am an iPad junkie. No 2 is my phone. I belong to too many whatsapp groups. One for this circle of friends, one for another circle of friends, a third circle of friend, the department group, the department heads group.....I believe I survived before whatsapp was invented.
Emails are another major source of distraction. Too many emails coming in both work and non-work related add in my subscription to online book stores, shopping, fashion, you name them.
The next, and this goes hand in hand with having iPad and smartphones, are social networks. Facebook and Instagram are the greatest culprit for me.
Declutter is important to find my focus. I need focus to be able to achieve my personal targets.
Step 1. Unsubscribe emails that I spend more time deleting than actually reading. I will now only subscribe to career enhancing mails.
Step 2. Clean apps on both iPad and iPhone. The so called productivity apps that I thought would enable my organization capabilities. I even have one for S.M.A.R.T. KPIs!! Who am I kidding? I still get my KPIs wrong.
Step 3. Facebook and Instagram declutter. Who needs to know about other people's lives when I can't manage well my own? I would first declutter friends and then consider deactivating.
Step 4. Whatsapp groups on my phone. I opted out from one already and now thinking of opting out from a few more. The challenge? How do I do this without offending my friends?
