Recently, Mak had distributed her gold to us sisters and I was bequeathed a few, more than I care to have, actually. Mak's collection of jewelry are designs that one will not get anymore these days. They are heavy, some can be considered antiques, while some are just vintage looking jewelry.
Today, I decided to wear this set of seven bangles and a ring that was of Emas 10 gold. 99.9% gold. Before I deviate further and talk about gold, the reason for the entry is to talk about this conversation between me and MrM on the way to work.
I was telling him about the ring I wore and the rarity value of this ring since it is made of Emas 10.
MrM told me then that most of his office colleagues often wondered the reason he did not have a wedding ring on his finger. As he was telling me, I too wondered, why we never had exchanged rings when we got married. MrM went on and said that he gets these questions all the time, as if a ring signifies a marriage.
I casually asked MrM what was his usual response when asked about the non-existence of a wedding ring.
To which he said simply "The ring is in my heart".
And just last night I was thinking alone before going to bed that both MrM and I are just too busy with work and running around sending kids for tuition and activities we forget about making an effort for each other and expressing our love in whatever way we can. (not sexual, by the way).
Today when he said "the ring is in my heart", that reinforces that deep inside, I matter still to him. This marriage he still believes. He made my day.
